With only 11 athletes La Salle took home a 2nd place plaque at the Archdiocese Championship . Truly an amazing feat of focus a determination.
"The Flight Academy" had an impressive day with excellent results. Corey Simmons placed 1st the Triple Jump with a jump of 39'11" and later placed 1st the 300 meter run with a time of 37.4 seconds. Ariel Pastoriza placed 2nd in the High Jump with a jump of 5'6" (PR*) and also placed 3rd in the Pole Vault with a vault of 10' (PR*) Joseph Cruz placed 1st in the 55 meter Hurdles with a time of 8.3 seconds and placed 2nd in the Pole Vault with a vault of 11'6" (PR*). Lorenzo Smith had a hard time in the Pole Vault and had to fight off a sore hampstring, but came through in the Triple Jump placing 5th with a jump of 32'10".
"The Flying Bricks"had a magnificent day scoring 9 points in the Shot-Put. Israel Vazquez placed 1st and threw a personal best of 40" 7.75"(Can you say BBQ's). Jude Monestime also threw for a personal best of 39' 2" placing 3rd.
"The High Milers" had a splendid evening spliting their talents in different areas. Carlos Rivera has shown maturity in and patience in the 3200 meter run placing 2nd with a time of 10:56.2, and later placed 5th in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:09.2. Angel Alsina ran a strong race in the 800 meter run placing 3rd with a time 2:11.8. Luis Perez has shown great strides in becoming a competative runner placing 4th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:21.2. He later teamed up with Anthony DiGiovanni, Patrick Augustine and William Chow in the 3200 meter relay to place a remarkable 3rd with a time of 9:47.4.
Although undermanned La Salle scored remarkable 52 points. If their was an IRON MAN award in would have to go to Lorenzo Smith, Ariel Pastoriza and Luis Perez for their hard work and never surrender philosophy.
