
With only six competitors La Salle's Var/J-V placed 8th out of 16 schools in the division. Long Jumpers Brian Inzeo (19ft) and Nicholas Navarro (18'3") caught enough air to finish 2nd and 6th respectively. Triple Jumpers Robert Archempong and David Tarver jumped their Personal Bests. David flew for a 5th place jump of 39ft. 7in, and Robert placed first winning the event with a jump of 41 ft 8in. possibly qualifying for the State Championship. Chingiz Musayiv placed 6th in the 300 meter dash out of a crowd of 20 competitors.
La Salle freshman bounced on their competition scoring a remarkable 55 points placing second and just missing first by half a point. With only 16 competitors La Salle has sent fear and confusion throughout the city
.THE FLYING BRICKS once again hold their own against fierce competition. In the Shot-Put, Jude Monestine placed 2nd with a throw of 44ft. 4in. Ceasar Vargas placed 3rd with a throw of 43ft. 3 and a half inches; Kellen Smith placed 5th with a throw of 42ft. 6in. and Israel Vasquez placed 6th with a throw of 39ft. 8in. La Salle dominated the Pole Vault. Ariel Pastoriza placed 2nd with a vault of 9ft; Joseph Cruz placed 3rd with a vault of 8ft. 6in.; Angel Osorio placed 4th with a vault of 8ft. and Lorenzo Smith placed 5th with a vault of 8'0.
The High Jump was a classic duel for position. Sean Gilmore placed 2nd with a jump of 5ft. 8in. Marcus Smith placed 3rd with a jump of 5ft. 2in. Kellen Smith placed 4th with a jump of 5ft 2in., and Malik Bryson placed 6th with a jump of 4ft 10in
Corey Simmons once again took the Triple Jump and recorded his * THIRD MEET RECORD * with a jump of 39ft 2in. He was supported by Marcus Smith who jumped 37ft and one half inches, and Lorenzo Smith who jumped 33ft. 9 1/2in. Our runners (THE HIGH MILERS) wreaked havoc on their competitors scoring points in both sprints and distance races. Corey Simmons placed 1st in the 300 meter run with a time of 38.9. Angel Alsina placed 3rd in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:07.7 and came back to place 5th in the the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.4. Carlos Rivera placed 5th in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:19.4. Anthony DiGiovanni placed 4th in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:13.4. Patrick Agustine placed 6th in the 400 meter run with a time of 58. 8sec. This week La Salle faces 35 schools in the C.H.S.A.A. CITY CHAMPIONSHIP.
